Really Perfect Base Camp and Lovely Spot

Date: October 30, 2007

Best things about resort . . . The weather in mid-October ranged from the 40's at night to the 60's daytime - shirtsleeve weather! Loved sitting on the spacious deck with morning coffee and evening aperitif's! The small, non-commercial atmosphere (only 20 units, all free-standing and very private) was why we bought in, and it lived up to the photos the prior owner had posted. Fabulous scenery - all units on lake or with view of lake, personal attention by owners of property; proximity to groceries, big cities, small villages - reminded us of "old England." Our brother-in-law, who is from Michigan, said it reminded him of the summer camps on the lakes at home! My husband and I are accomplished bakers and chefs and found the kitchen to be very well equipped to carry out our pursuits, which included baking artisan breads while here! While we didn't use the motorboats, several others did, and if you're into fishing, it's a win-win situation!

Best attractions or restaurants nearby . . .We only ate out twice, but the Intervale Pancake House on outskirts of Henniker prepares a fabulous, inexpensive breakfast - 4 of us ate FULL breakfast with juice, coffee, extra sides for about $30; beautiful apple orchards to pick your own or just photograph; lots of old covered bridges to visit and all are free!

Review Mapquest directions are a bit "off" but due to good signage by LSVR we were able to punt! We visited in fall - 10/12 - 10/19, white time, but we got a fabulous show of color. Locals said the color wasn't what they usually see, but we were thrilled and took home lovely photos. You just will not believe how "into" fall decorating the locals get! We got so much enjoyment looking at the vignettes that families created all over New England, ranging from simple pumpkins to elaborate garlands, pumpkins, mum pots and full graveyards of "past" spirits.! We visited MA historic sites ( 1 1/2 hrs), Vermont cheese farms (sheep and cow! 1 hour) and later, ended our trip with a concert in Portland, ME, which allowed us to see another part of the east coast - 1 1/2 hrs away. From Weare, you can set a 120 mile - 150 mile radius and see many small, quaint towns, if that's your cup of tea. We visited Dartmouth College, as well. Had done some research and wanted to eat at Three Tomatoes (Tres Pommodores) in Lebanon, NH. We arrived in between lunch and dinner and couldn't eat there, but the place smelled heavenly, and locals recommended it as well. Bottom line, though, if you just want a place to relax in a beautiful atomosphere - Lake Shore Village Resort is it. I do NOT anticipate exchanging this week for anything!

Great Resort

Date: October 18, 2007

Best things about resort . . Scenery and peacefulness.

Best attractions or restaurants nearby. . . Just staying at the resort was wonderful.

Review . . .Hate to say this but it was the most relaxing place we have ever stayed. We will probably have a hard time exchange now that we are writing a good review about it. The cabin was rustic but perfect for New Hampshire woods. The scenery was magnificent. We were allowed to use the indoor pool, the boats, (sail, motor, row, kayak, etc.) There was plenty to do. We would exchange again if available. Actually we would love to own there. Anyone want to switch with Orange Lake time share?
